On a scale of 1-10, where 10 is fully engaged and 1 is sleepwalking, how would you rate your organization in the are of employee engagement? What if you could increase that rating by just 1-point? The impact on your bottom-line is significant, considering the fact that no investment is required since you've already made the investment - labor. It's simply a matter of achieving a better return on your labor investment.
Consider Best Buy, the electronics superstore as a case study in employee engagement. At Best Buy the value of a 0.1% increase in employee engagement at a particular store is $100,000. I'm not suggesting a 0.1% increase would result in the same $100,000 increase for your stores since Best Buy sells a lot of high-margin products. Nevertheless, do the math: 0.1% = $???? x the number of employees in your organization =$????. Whatever number you decide to plug into the formula, the result is better than what you're achieving now. Want to increase store profitability? Focus your attention and resources on improving employee engagement, not next months soda promotion.
