Worried some of your employees are considering leaving? Watch for these changes in behavior: 1) Coming in later or leaving earlier than usual, 2) Doing just enough to get by, 3) Complaints, especially from people who usually don't complain, 4) Positive references to other companies, 5) References to employees who have left, and 6) Talking about being "burned out."
To address this issue, rather than avoiding it: 1) Arrange a private meeting right away, 2) Explain what you've noticed and ask if there's a deeper concern, and 3) Tell the employee how much you value him or her, and ask for their help in changing things.
